Stop Hackers Now |
|
|
Everyday Hackers are scanning the Internet searching
for vulnerable computers to attack and take over.
Both Dial-Up and Directly connected computers are targets. Your
computer is directly. Superteks can install a personal or business
firewall to protect your computer or network from unwanted intrusions.
We can remotely manage and monitor your firewall to make sure your
computer, network, and data stay safe.
We also can recommend the best solution that fits your budget.
If you are a home user connected via dial-up, DSL, or Cable modem you
still can be attacked. It is not unusual for those playing Internet
games to be attacked by other players. And hackers are always
looking to take over computers hooked to the Internet by Cable modems or
DSL so they can take over your machine for other uses.

What exactly does a
firewall do? |
1. A firewall stops outside hackers from attacking your nework and
your data. It creates a "wall" between your network and the
Internet.
Its main purposes is to look at all incoming and outgoing traffic and
compare it to a set of rules customized for your computers needs.
If the packet of traffic is allowed by the rules setup in your firewall
then the packet is allowed to pass through the firewall. If it
does not, the packet is not allowed to pass through.
|
2. A firewall will protect you from "deny-of-service" attacks.
These attacks essentially try to flood your firewall and network with
useless data and create and stop your Internet connection from working
by basically clogging your connection to the Internet
|
3. Firewalls usually can do NAT (Native Address Translation).
Fancy words that basically mean you can hide hundreds of computers
behind a firewall that has only one real Internet Address. This
allows you to save a substantial amount of money in monthly Internet
Access fees.
|
|
|
4. Often firewalls can be used to restrict
what your companies employees can actually view or use on the Internet.
Using the Rules base to limit unwanted traffic
By using rules you can prevent certain types of traffic from
occurring--like large music file downloads from Napster.
This will allow you to use your Internet Bandwidth for true business
related activities.
URL Blocking
URL blocking allows you to block users from accessing non-business
related sites. For example, pornography, chat rooms, shopping
sites, etc. How much blocking you choose to do is dependent on
your firewalls blocking software and your internal web polices.
Why block these sites?
Lost Productivity. Employees can waste time on inappropriate of
objectionable Web sites.
Financial Loss. Failure to control access to objectionable Web
sites, such as pornographic or racist, can expose the organization to
lawsuits.
Privacy Concerns. Unscrupulous web site operators may use Java,
Active X and "cookies" to monitor your surfing habits.
How does the firewall know what sites to block? Most firewalls use
subscription services that attempt to catalog and categorize all web
sites on the internet that an organization may want to block. This
is an on-going process so new lists are regularly downloaded to the
firewall.
NOTE: It is impossible to block every site on the Internet that is
not acceptable for your Internal Policies. This is because new sites are
being brought up every day and are often discovered by end users like
yourself. You can, however, manually block these sites as they are
discovered by adding them to a denial list that most good firewalls
have.
|
5. You firewall can work as a gateway for virtual
private networking (VPN) access.
VPN can allow your staff to securely access your workstations and
servers via a secure, encrypted tunnel that is created through the
Internet. This tunnel will greatly reduced the chances that anyone
could access or view any of your secure data while at the same time give
your staff the flexibility to work from home or another site.
|
6. Your firewall can often act as a anti-virus
gateway scanner data before it actually reaches your computer and
checking for infections.
Infected files will not be allowed to pass through the firewall.
|
7. A good firewall will allow secure remote
management.
SuperTeks uses firewalls that notify us of any attempts that hackers
make on your network and also allow us to change and maintain settings
on your firewall. |
